I'm continually amazed at the parallels between studying music and studying martial arts, or climbing, or any other art. Back in high school, I made huge gains after going to a summer music camp, and after I switched teachers. And starting at music school spurred even greater growth.

Last night I attended my first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class in Simi last night, and it was a blast. I was the least skilled student there, and I learned a lot.

Everybody in the class was better than me, and really cool about showing me where I could improve. Every student I rolled with took a moment to help. Fantastic.

I'm hoping to go back on Sunday afternoon for the open mat session. We shall see!

In other news, my new yoga mat arrived today, so I'll be making a point of getting to lunchtime yoga from now on. And as always, getting 9 hours of sleep each night remains key. Can't wait to crash tonight.
