Two Great Rides
On Monday evening, I ended up with less time than I'd hoped, and so skipped plans to further explore Sycamore Cyn. Instead, I headed back to my "project" in wildwood: riding up the Lower Butte trail, then east up the Santa Rosa to the cross above CLU, without dabbing.
Ah, so close. Caught a crank on a rock, and that was that. Returned to the bottom of the technical section, and got it right away. Any ride now, it'll fall. Also saw a guy ride cleanly up the slope that tipped me into a cactus a couple weeks ago. So I'm now even more motivated to get the whole thing clean.
And tonight I decided to explore the trails off the south end of Moorpark Rd. in Thousand Oaks. First I headed up the Los Robles Trail East, up the switchbacks to the plateau, and along the Scenic Overlook Trail, which provided, y'know, scenic overlooks.
I also chatted with a couple of hikers who pointed me westward toward "Space Mountain", a well-known local trail that I hadn't had a chance to explore yet. The trail is fantastic, with challenging switchbacks and a speedy, swooping descent. Can't wait to go back.
