Dropbox is Magic

On Sunday night, my wife asked me to scan a document and email it to her mom. And I screwed up that simple task: I forgot to attach the PDF to the email. Doh.

Unfortunately, I didn't discover my mistake until the next day. I was sitting in the second of three doctor appointments (my yearly check-ups, all sparkling), and was headed for a long, much-needed mountain bike ride afterward. I wouldn't be home until five o'clock or so.

And once I got home, it was time to make dinner, play with the dogs, do laundry, etc. I completely forgot about mailing the document until later that night, when Janell reminded me.

So last night, I finally configured our printer/scanner to put scanned documents and images into a folder called "Scans", that lives in my Dropbox folder. I then shared that folder with my wife's Dropbox account.

Then I installed Dropbox on Janell's iPhone. (It's been on my iPhone for ages.)

End result: all scans now drop into a folder that my wife and I can access from anywhere.

So, the next time I forget to attach the document to an email, I can fix the mistake from right there in the doctor's waiting room.
