Whups: Bundesbank Misplaces Vault Plans

Bundesbank just spent €156 million renovating it's vault. Last week, a hairdresser across town discovered complete plans in his garbage can. The plans show "floor thickness, movement detector placements, doors, passageways and barred gates."

Bank spokesman Albrecht Sommer said, "We will check to see how this could have happened. Right now we have to make sure no more worksite plans are out there."

Call me crazy, but it seems like Bundesbank has to assume that there are more copies in the wild than they know about. Making those plans obsolete is a better strategy than making them scarce.

Readers' Comments

Sad, yet funny all at the same time. They should indeed assume that the plans have been copied and posted on a Russian pr0n site. A new design is indeed the best plan at this point; you can take that to the bank! (pun intended).

Actually, I forgot to mention that a German tabloid already published the plans on their front page, under the headline THESE PLANS ARE SECRET. Trying to get them back is futile. (Though I doubt the usefulness of the tabloid-published plans.) I bet the bank isn't the only organization pissed off at losing the plans--there's a bank cracking crew that is now one member down after he blew the job. (Or maybe there's an undercover cop who scuttled the job without blowing his cover.)
