Upgrades Delayed
I want to put disc brakes on my mountain bike. First, I had a plan, then I revised it. Now, thanks to car repairs, it's getting delayed. (It's only going to cost maybe $140 out of pocket, but that's a lot more than I want to spend right now upgrading something that already works fine.
I'm still solid on getting new wheels, and on getting some seriously nice wheels. The wheelset I'm looking at will save me 600g (1.3 lbs.)in total weight, with a fair chunk coming from rim weight, which will lower the rotational enertia.
So the next step is to check with the tech to check that the Mavics are kosher, and then I'll order them. I get 20% off on the wheels if I order them by the end of the month. So I'll order the wheels now while I can get them on sale (they're covered by my dividend, so it's nothing out of pocket regardless), and do the installation after a couple more paychecks have arrived.
Happily, the wheels are backordered anyway, so by the time they get here I should have a little cash to spend on the installation.
Yes, the entire drama has been conducted entirely in my own head and obsessively documented here for your enjoyment.
