Just wanted to note that I've been rocking an awesome little utility for OS X: LineIn from Rogue Amoeba. It lets you pipe audio input from your Mac's "line in" jack through to the headphone jack. (It does other stuff too, but this is the killer use.)

This doesn't sound like a lot until you realize that this means you can output music from your iPod and sound from your computer through a single set of headphones. So I can listen to Boards of Canada and still hear Skype and Entourage notifications. Nice.
